Introductory Reformer Course

Who is the Introductory Reformer Course for?

It is for teachers who already hold a qualification in Pilates Matwork (BCP, APPI, Foundation, Stott, to name a few) but have no experience in teaching on the Reformer. It is also a useful revision course for those teachers who have been teaching on the Reformer for a number of years but wish to refine their skills and deepen their knowledge.

Is experience as a client on the reformer required before participating in the Introductory Reformer Course?

Yes, It is essential that you have had some experience of being taught on the Reformer before learning how to teach on it. You will learn a great deal more if you have prior experience.

Is there an assessment, examination, supervised teaching period?

No. This course is only offered to qualified Pilates teachers and a certain degree of proficiency is assumed.  You will be trained to teach on the equipment but this is in addition to your existing teaching qualification. You will be continuously assessed throughout the duration of a Lisa B Pilates course and on the final day Lisa and yourself will agree whether you have successfully completed the course and a certificate can be awarded accordingly.  In the event that it is felt that further training is required, a plan of this training will be agreed.

Is there a qualification or certification?

Students who successfully complete a course will receive a certificate from Lisa B Pilates: Academy for Teachers confirming attendance and successful completion of the course.

Will I be insured to teach on the Reformer?

You should check with your own insurance company. Balens Insurance are happy to accept Lisa B Pilates Academy Certification. If you are insured through another Pilates body, then it is unlikely that training by a third party will be recognised. However, these policies are both deliberately restrictive and expensive and a call to Balens could save you both time and money.
